Associations, Affiliations, and Groups
Women’s Fiction Writers Association
A national writer’s association with a local group that meets three times a year in Raleigh. Multiple Facebook groups with fellow writers who are very responsive to any questions about writing, publication and marketing tips. Membership is $58.00 per year.

From their website: “Crime writing has room for—needs—new voices, different perspectives, and new twists on stories with secrets and discoveries, of guilt and innocence, justice and injustice. Sisters in Crime welcomes anyone as a Sibling who loves crime fiction: all genders, all genres, all stages of writing, all ages writing for all ages, and readers.” North Carolina has two Chapters. Non-members can sign in as guests for webinars offered. Annual memberships: Professional Membership – $60.00 (has voting rights), Active Membership- $50.00 (has no voting rights). Jane Cleland – Cozy Mystery
A writer of multiple cozy mysteries and nonfiction pieces for writers. Often has articles in Writer’s Digest and is the author of two award winning books on plot and structure. She is a teacher and offers a free monthly webinar and short writing tips on youtube.com. She offers paid content as well.

A Self-Guided Workbook and Gentle Tour on Learning How to Write Stories from Start-to-Finish by Carrie Jane Knowles. Thanks to Becky for sharing this resource where the author guides and inspires both new and seasoned writers with advice, examples, and exercises. Ms. Knowles focuses on writing and editing fiction, as well as why conflict is vital for any successful novel or story.
