About Sherri Hollister
Sherri Lupton Hollister is the author of sixteen novels, and several short stories and novellas. She is
trying to write more stories than she has grandchildren, but they keep multiplying, she is up to twenty-
six grandchildren. It is a running joke in the family that if you piss off mom, she’ll put you in her book
and kill you off by page fifty. The oldest grands are now begging to be added to her novels and even
telling her how to kill them off.
Sherri is a former member of Romance Writers of America and the local chapter, Heart of Carolina which
were welcomed into Triangle Association of Freelance Writers. She is the chairperson of the Pamlico
Writers Group in Washington, North Carolina and a member of the international romance writers’
group, The New Romance Café.

Pacing is a big part of any story, but it is essential in suspense. In this interactive discussion, romantic suspense author S L Hollister will examine the impact of our writing on the pacing of our stories and its interplay with the other plot-driving elements.
Here’s a hint: there isn’t one single way to do it. Every genre of fiction carries its own set of reader expectations. Genre, style, and many other factors affect the pacing, which enhances the reader’s enjoyment. Along with reader engagement and expectation, enjoyment is the overall goal we want to accomplish.
