Join us on May 11 for our final monthly meeting before the summer break. We’ve accomplished so much this year: A successful fundraiser at the Haw River Ballroom, the Memoir Cookbook with recipes and food stories, exciting growth in the Student Writing Contest, participation with Alamance County libraries in the April Poetry Stroll, and inspirational monthly workshops, including two three-hour workshops.
Let’s celebrate each other. Bring a short piece that can be read in seven minutes or less. Poets, choose one or two poems to share. Prose writers, consider an excerpt from a novel, short story, or creative non-fiction piece you’ve written. Or write something new (perhaps flash fiction or non-fiction) that follows the guidelines. Using the open-mic format, we’ll sign up for a reading as we enter. Don’t be shy.
If not a member, are you interested in the Burlington Writers Club? This is an excellent way to learn about us and enjoy a morning of good writing. Join us as a listener, or bring your own piece (poetry, fiction, creative non-fiction) and sign up to read. We welcome you. This event will not be available on Zoom.
We’ll all have fun. The more, the merrier.
This event is made possible by the NC Arts Council, a division of the Department of Cultural Resources through the Alamance Arts Council.
