September is the beginning of the Burlington Writers Club 2024-2025 workshop program. This month we are excited to have one of our members presenting. Have you ever thought a distant family member’s life might make a good story? Who hasn’t? Every family has a character or two in it. Thomas Fenske, a fellow Burlington Writers Club member, will share ways to use family history as a starting point for a story as he discusses “Family History as a Catalyst for Historical Fiction” at our meeting on September 14.
Tom writes historical fiction, The Hag Rider, true crime fiction, Harmon Creek, and an adventure/mystery series Traces of Treasure. He describes his work as “writing with a slice of life”. A Texas native, Thomas has lived in North Carolina for thirty-five years. He lives in Mebane, North Carolina with his wife, his dog and a clowder of cats.
We meet at Alamance Arts Council, 213 South Main Street, Graham, North Carolina from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. A short business meeting will be held following the presentation. Join us in person or attend virtually by contacting Bob Martin at presidentburlingtonwriters.org to request a Zoom link. Consider joining Burlington Writers Club for an annual fee of $20.
This event is made possible by the NC Arts Council, a division of the Department of Cultural Resources through the Alamance Arts Council.
